  • Paul Miller

    Chief Executive Officer

    Paul leads UBM Tech, a global media business that provides information, events, training, data services, and marketing solutions for the technology industry. He brings over 23 years of technology media experience to the role.Prior to being named CEO of UBM Tech in 2012, Paul was CEO of UBM Electronics, where he led over $50 million of acquisition activity and expanded the group’s business into China, Japan, India, Brazil, Korea and Taiwan.Paul has won several awards, including 2011 Top Innovator in Business Publishing by Media Business magazine and inclusion in the 2010 & 2011 Media BusinessWho’s Who in Business Publishing.Paul joined UBM (then CMP Media LLC) in 1991 and subsequently held a number of management positions throughout Europe and North America. From 1986 through 1991 he worked for Reed Business Information in various sales and management positions.Paul has a B.A. (Hons) Degree in Communication Studies from Sheffield Hallam University, a Diploma in Marketing (DipM) from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.  He is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

    Bob oversees the entire operations of UBM Tech Channel, the leading provider of sales, marketing, research, events, and media products and services for solution providers and vendors in the technology industry. An innovative businessman and one of the topmost authorities in the technology marketplace, Bob is recognized as the voice of and for the Channel.

    Since taking on the leadership of what is now UBM Tech Channel in 2001, Bob has conceptualized and launched numerous successful new businesses, including the Institute for Partner Education & Development (IPED,) CRN Tablet and a host of online services and events, including demand-generation services.

    UBM Tech Channel also has a history under Bob’s leadership of acquiring start-up companies, and integrating them into the portfolio to deliver complete marketing solutions. In the past, UBM Tech Channel has acquired software companies, as well as events and media outlets.

    An early adopter of the Internet Bob helped push CMP into the online world in the early 1990s and was instrumental in driving the company’s transformation from a print publisher to a full service supplier of integrated media and other services. More recently, UBM Tech Channel has moved into the tablet world with a daily issue about new technology and information.

  • Marco Pardi

    President

    Marco brings more than 20 years of technology media experience and leadership to his role at UBM Tech.  As president of the business technology event division he manages and develops a portfolio of industry-leading event brands, which includes Interop, Cloud Connect, Enterprise Connect, Enterprise 2.0 and Black Hat. Together the division is responsible for $55 million in annual revenue.

    Marco is a graduate of the UBM Business Leadership Program, a year-long executive leadership and training program offered every two years to a select group of future corporate leaders worldwide and involving executive training, leadership quests, and cross-cultural immersion.  Marco graduated from the BLP in 2011.

    Marco came to UBM Tech via the acquisition of MediaLive International in 2006.  At MediaLive he held the position of Vice President of Sales, overseeing all customer sales and marketing, and was a member of the executive board, reporting to the CEO.   Originally recruited to MediaLive to turn around the technology industry’s largest event, COMDEX, Marco also ran new business development where he helped launch numerous events, including Web 2.0 Summit, Web 2.0 Expo, Cloud Connect, Enterprise 2.0, and Mobile Business Expo.

    Prior to MediaLive, Marco was the Group Director of the Software Development Group at CMP Media.  Marco served as Publisher of SD Magazine, oversaw the Software Development Events Group and managed related Web sites such as sdmagazine.com and sdexpo.com.  Under Marco’s leadership, SD Magazine won the 2002 Maggie Award for best publication in the computer/software category and went from third to first in market share among software development publications.  During his 10 years at CMP Media he helped launch the Web Design & Development conferences, UML World, SD Bootcamp and the SD Best Practices Conference.

  • Sandra Wallach

    Sandra is a senior finance executive with over 20 years of multi-faceted experience, bringing the right balance of controllership, insightful analysis, business partnership and technology market experience to enable growth and profitability at UBM Tech. Prior to UBM Tech, Sandra was Vice President of Finance with MiaSole, a start-up in the solar energy space, and prior to that she was a Vice President of Finance at Juniper Networks. Sandra has also served in finance roles at General Electric and Intuit.

  • David Michael

    Chief Information Officer

    David is responsible for defining strategies, overseeing and delivering significant technology initiatives while ensuring consistency of IT programs. His main focus is on identifying, evaluating and analyzing opportunities that advance UBM Tech’s strategic IT business objectives. He also plays a significant role in our web development and events business.

    David joined UBM in 1994 as a Technical Director for Oxford Information Technology (OiT) in the UK, transferring to PR Newswire Europe in 1998. In 2001 he came to the US and served as CIO and EVP of Global Operations for PR Newswire. He has been serving as UBM Tech’s CIO since January 2009.

    David holds a BS in Computer Science from the University of Warwick and lives in New York City.

  • Martha Schwartz

    Chief Sales Officer, Media

    Martha leads and manages all sales activity across the InformationWeek Business Technology Network and Light Reading Communications Network, including building and developing our Marketing as a Service product offering and go to market team. She has been instrumental in developing online, print, event and integrated media revenue for InformationWeek, Network Computing, Dark Reading, Light Reading, Dr. Dobbs, BYTE, Wall Street & Technology, Insurance & Technology and Bank Systems & Technology.

    She joined UBM Tech in 2008 as Vice President of Integrated Media for InformationWeek, with an extraordinary track record of building strong and successful programs for customers. Prior to joining UBM Tech, Martha was Senior Vice President at Ziff Davis Enterprise, where she built and managed Ziff’s custom media business, driving huge revenue growth with online and face-to-face events, and custom content. She was also on the launch team at Ziff Davis Media for CIO Insight and Baseline.

    Prior to joining Ziff Davis, Martha was Associate Publisher for Windows NT/2000 Magazine and built and launched the first online network in that market. Previously, she was Associate Publisher of Windows Magazine, where she increased sales by over 20% and grew market share by 5%. She began her career as a sales representative for Electronic Buyers News, where she won several sales awards for the most accounts sold and highest percentage sales growth.

  • Simon Carless

    Executive Vice President, Game & App Development and Black Hat

    Simon oversees both UBM Tech’s Game Development network and the industry-leading Black Hat information security conferences. The game development group’s flagship products include industry leaders such as Game Developer Magazine, Gamasutra.com and the Game Developers Conference.

    He is also one of the key people behind the Independent Games Festival, a “Sundance for games” which runs yearly at GDC in San Francisco.  He is the sole Western judge for Sense Of Wonder Night, an independent games showcase held at Tokyo Game Show every year.

    Prior to joining UBM Tech, Simon was an editor of tech site Slashdot and the originator of Slashdot’s games section.  He has extensive game development experience at companies such as Atari and Eidos.

    Simon has worked closely with the non-profit Internet Archive to help preserve music and game-related materials, helping to win a DMCA exemption for classic software preservation. He has also written for magazines including Wired, Make and Official Xbox Magazine, and was the author/editor of the O’Reilly book Gaming Hacks.

  • Lenny Heymann

    EVP, New Markets

    Lenny is responsible for developing new partnerships and products at UBM Tech, with a focus on global expansion.

    He was formerly group general manager overseeing many of UBM Tech’s market leading events, such as Interop, Cloud Connect and Enterprise Connect. He has worked on live events since 1997, including a long run as general manager of Interop.

    Earlier he spent 10 years as a reporter and editor covering the computer and communications industries for publications such as CommunicationsWeek, MacWeek and LAN Times, where he was editor-in-chief. He lives in Burlingame, Calif., where his aim is to drink more wine than he buys.

    Angela was most recently with UBM Tech’s sister company, PR Newswire, the leading global provider of marketing and communications solutions. At UBM Tech, she is responsible for setting and implementing Human Resource strategy that supports the company’s overall business objectives which encompasses the hiring, training and development of employees worldwide and creating an environment and programs that develop and motivate employees. In previous roles, Angela was Chief People Officer at Ogilvy PR, worked at Ogilvy & Mather Advertising as well as at a large metropolitan hospital.
